Oh she is there and way better than that, she knows the difference in a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. Can spot a dent side in a pile of brush 1/2 way behind a barn at 80 MPH.
You know I like to brag on my Co-pilot, she is an awesome Ford spotter. I get a kick out of her at the Off Road Jamboree when she can spot and call BS on a trucks suspension...front blocks, 5 shocks per wheel, jacked up so high it has NO front d/s, you know the stuff that make you just laugh out loud.

Pulling the boot is the easy way to tell which trans you have. As far as the shift pattern, I think it was actually the T19 that was up toward the dash. All the T18s I have seen have the same shift pattern as the 435-reverse is down on the right.

I'm runnin a 6" suspension lift on my 77 f150 ranger. It's got all new tie-rods, universals, and ball joints. Planning on throwing some 36's or 37's on it, but I have a new set of aluminum wheels that were given to me and they're 15"x10's. the 15" wheels limit me quite a bit.
As far as holding her together and breaking stuff, I'll probably only drive it to the Rusty Nut car shows up this way and play with it a little.....don't see much mud in its future. My wife likes big trucks and is a bit of a gearhead, but she'd kill me if I started breaking stuff.

Are you asking what's the minimal components you'll need to handle 35s? You're fine with the stock axles if you go with a 35" tire. It's not all about what upgrades you do to your truck either, knowing it's limits and how to drive it are a big part too. If you feel like upgrading to chromoly shafts it won't hurt, but I don't see the need for them. The only time I considered them is when I wanted to put a blower on the engine. Then I sold the truck and bought one with stronger axles.
