Power Steering Reservoir Cap

I don't know about other years/engines but be careful of the PS fluid reservoir cap. My truck is lightly used, so I don't go under the hood very often. I recently opened it to add some windshield washer fluid and noticed oil on the back side of the air filter housing - then I saw the cap was off the PS reservoir. Fortunately it is attached with a lanyard, so at least i didn't lose it. A couple months earlier I had vacuumed out the PS reservoir and added new fluid. Evidently I did not get the cap secured properly - you have to look on the underside, find the locking lugs, line the cap lugs up (blind) with the slots in the filler neck ring, then twist about 90 degrees to lock the cap on.
I was pretty upset, mainly because there was grit all over the reservoir and inside the filler neck. So I cleaned up all the grit and vacuumed it out again and refilled it. So far so good, but there's a big chance some road grit got into the system, so I guess if I still have it in 10 years I'll probably have to put a rack and pump in it.
