You can buy them from Ford.......Or a Junkyard....Ford Moved one Battery to the frame in 97....My Model and 96 was the last one to have 2 Batteries in the Front ( 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel)....the After that , the 6.0 PSD moved Both Batteries to the Frame rails...

Not only did Ford put plural batteries in their vans but also in pickups so if you go to the boneyard you're likely to find more pickups than vans~hopefully this'll broaden your search area.

Cool - Thanks! I am a little skeptical about putting one against the frame rails.... Seems like a sketchy place?? I off road a lot, so that is why... Gets dirty down there.. But Maybe it would be fine.

I put an extra battery in my 96, all it needed was a piece of plywood to set the battery on. The size of the deep cycle itself prevents it from moving anywhere. Fits like a glove. Just needed cables run over to the other side.

When I installed extra batteries in my '09 E250 a buddy and I fabricated a platform that mounts inside the frame rail on the driver's side. There was room to comfortably fit two group 31 batteries. I used AGM since checking or adding fluid would be a major pain.

The forward end of the platform has a heavy duty hinge with the back end secured with a hinged bolt assembly. The bolt end is back up with a heavy duty safety chain, just in case. The hinged feature makes it comparatively easy to get to the batteries, but it still requires a hoist.

The battery cables come up at the forward end where the hinge is. In my case it is a cargo van with a headache cage. The cables come up just forward of the headache cage where they land to a battery switch, fuses, etc. I know it isn't a Ford sanctioned solution, but it's been in place for two years with no problems. Here on island we have a mix of good paved, good unpaved, and just plain nasty unpaved, so the installation doesn't lead a pampered highway only life.

Batteries are like many things in life; you can't have too many.
