High Output Alternator Needed 04 Excursion V10 6L

Hi guys,

Looking for a new alternator for my 04 Excursion V10 but have not been able to locate one. I checked locally and then with JEGS auto. So I thought I'd stop in, ask, and then introduce myself. I'm coming up with nothing, so if someone could help a brotha out - that'd be fantastic!!!

If you know of a link/company I can contact to get one overnight to me, it would really help.

About my truck. . Wanted an Excursion for YEARS! Had to drive an 92 Range Rover into the dirt. After putting $10K into it my wife said, "you need a new car." And I said, "I want an Excursion" (I had asked for one previously) and her response was, "No." And "To big, I can't drive those." So.. Rover finally died, and she bought an 04 Excursion with 97K off a retired minister (I know - it's a blessed vehicle). I've put about 35K on it in two years and have driven it (well.. my wife has driven it) across the USA a few times. I absolutely love it!

Quick search on the interwebz brought me to Summit. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it's a 200-Amp alternator, according to the application list, it fits a V-10.

Just called Summit Racing and ordered overnight! It'll be sent out today/tonight. I ordered just before their next-day cut-off. Thanks much!

I bought one for my 6.0, it wasn't from summit though. Turns out they just put a smaller pulley on a rebuilt alternator, which burned it out inside of 6 months. Hope you get a good one.

JaySVX, how recently did you get the new alternator, which one did you get and do you like it?

Thanks

On the 6.0 we have a lot of alternator issues, mainly around lack of output. On some, it's the same alternator used on the Focus. Lots of guys try to mod the ambulance alternators. But, if you're going to get a high-output, everybody seems to love the ones made by DC-Power. They have models for the V-10 as well. I went with a 190 amp 2 years ago from them and all my low power issues have been resolved. https://www.dcpowerinc.com/high-outp...odel=Excursion

I forget the shop i bought it at, it was a couple years ago. It died in 6 months though, from being overworked from the undersized pulley spinning it faster than it was designed to do.

To clarify, the origional poster specifies v10 and 6L, but that's two different engines. The V10 is a 6.8 liter gas motor, where-as the 6.0 is a V8 6.0 liter diesel motor.

Sean, thanks for the props. I try, as many others here have, to give honest and accurate posts.
