Is modded IDM worth it?
I've been researching around and was wondering what y'all think about a modded IDM. Is it worth it? If so who sells good ones? I saw swamp has one. I have an OBS 97 F350 Stage II's, Thruster II turbo, banks intercooler, 3 to 4 inch downpipe, no cat or muffler, ts 6 pos., k&n intake

I have 2 (I think, 1 for sure) IDMs and am pretty good with a soldering iron. I was thinking of doing it myself on one, but would appreciate opinions from anyone who's done it.
And for what it's worth I'll be running rosewood stage 2's.

If you have some soldering experiance and some spare time I would say it's worth it, really about the cheapest mod you can do. I did mine before any power mods, it may not be as noticeable with more mods though.

thanks for the feedback, guys. in my case, i think i'll complete my build with a stock 96 (120V, right? or is it 100V?) IDM, then do the DIY resistor swap on my spare one and swap it in later.
this oughta give me a good comparison of the true effect of it. i'm upgrading so many other things now, i'd never be able to tell what does what...
good to know it is likely worth the effort, though. snappier throttle is enough reason for me!

there are probably a bunch of K&N kits out there, but for me, i just took the K&N filter off and put the 6637 on. it was the best looking (and most expensive) 6637 filter setup out there!
the K&N kit has the intake air sensor in the end of their filter, though, if i remember. you have to just wire tie that sucker to the fender somewhere i think. maybe bend a bracket in the K&N box as well...

i can say from experience that it will! i had one on my truck for about a week before joining this forum and learning the [many] errors of my ways :-)

Okay so far I found 2 places that sell modded IDM or you can send your own in to be nodded for a few dollars cheaper then buying an already nodded one. Beans does a voltage mod. Also swamps does a little more extensive mods. swamps does the 140v mod as well as increasing the signal frequency. I think I'm gonna try the swamp IDM. Even if all I end up with is better throttle response I'll most likely be happy.

Was $335 + $250(for core but you get it back when you send your old one in). So $585. If you have a good/working IDM module you can send it in to have it modded for $275 if I comprehended what I read correctly. I ordered mine through irate diesel a few hours ago. http://www.iratediesel.com/store/buy-online/?slug=product_info&products_id=111
