Anyone had there seats recovered?
I'm bored, plus I am looking for something to do to my truck. I don't know maybe the interior is just looking dated to me right now.
I was thinking of maybe having my seat covers either redone or replaced. My thoughts are to go to a two color cover. I currently have the tan colored Lariat interior buckets and thinking of either going to black inserts or black with tan inserts.
Care to share your thoughts? I know that the seats are not all real leather so would one way be less expensive than the other? Should I go all leather and just have new covers made then hold on to my factory OEM covers that came with the truck?
Any idea as to what cost I may be looking at?
FWIW, I'm getting old (59) and don't see replacing this truck in my lifetime unless it is taken from me either due to theft, accident or Mother nature.

I do have the heated/cooled seats so I will need to have perforated leather seating surfaces.
There is a custom upholstery shop over in Red Oak that I had so some work on my RV seating a year or so ago. Maybe I need to let them give me a bid on doing the seats.

I can tell you as an upholster for 40 yrs your better off getting the OEM seats despite the cost Ford wants.
It isn't cheap for one to upholster these in leather. And to find someone who can do as good as OEM it is close to impossible.
That's just the way it is. So if you have an upholster do it and it's not the same or good as OEM don't bitch.
Cheapest way is to get slipcovers if you really have bad seats. Junk yards, etc.

With the explosion of those tv shows that do custom hot rods/cars there have been a lot of new businesses pop up for custom auto. I know in my area, within 200 miles of me, there are some quality custom interior shops that do a lot of business. I'd bet that you could find something if you search for custom cars, car builders, etc...
I would also search for shops that build/modify cars and find out who they use for doing their interiors. Shops that do the body and engine work seem to always outsource the interior stuff.
