I have all the original front suspension, steering, rear axle, steering gear box, front axle, v8 flathead (needs rebuild), 3 speed column shift trans, 6 original wheels that I wont be using. What are these worth (yes, i know "as much as someone is willing to pay") are these sought after components where Id have to hang on to them for a super long time?

At the risk of sounding like a smart***, which I'm not, really, the parts you mentioned are sought after by some, but not many. The flathead engine may have the most value, depending on condition. What do you know about it? Axles and suspension are being thrown away most every day by someone. But as soon as you pitch them, you'll run into someone that's been looking for one for years. Brake drums may have some value, depending on if they are still turnable or used up. Axles and springs; few people need those. Wheels might bring $20 each if they're not rusty or bent. Good luck.

I think a lot of us are in the same position, I have a ton of sheet metal, all needing repairs. I know someone out there needs it, however this pile of metal can't reside at my place much longer than next spring. I have frame parts, etc. I hate to scrap it but that looks like whats going to happen. There is value in just about everything, I guess my theory is to accept any reasonable offer just so the part gets put back to use. Others may disagree.

I suppose the real question is what is it worth to you? If getting rid of them quick to make space is your goal, price low and let them sit in the junk pile of someone else. If getting top dollar is your goal, and you have the space to keep them, price them high as someday someone is going to need that part to finish a project. Or consider trading for some parts you need. As for where to begin, start searching for the parts on Craigslist or eBay and see what others are asking. Best to you.

One option is to throw the list out there and give it to anyone that needs it.

Everything you listed (other than the engine) is only about $50 worth of scrap. But it could be priceless to someone that really needs it and can only afford shipping. (if that)

Just a thought.

That's EXACTLY my thought process. I HATE when people scrap parts, I don't want them to sit and rot or take up space but I would also like to make a little bit of cash.

I figure that some of this stuff is going to be hard to get rid of, as most people remove these parts from their trucks.

Ill post an ad in the for-sale section

Shipping is the killer on all the items you've mentioned.

I see you're in Michigan.

You might want to edit your details and add your location so it shows under your join date on the upper right side of your posts. In the User CP / Edit your Details / Additional Information.

It'll help people to know where you are before responding with interest in picking up the motor or other parts you might want to get rid of.

Not to steal your thread but I think sometimes good deeds and karma are more important than money. I recently went looking for good used parts for a 67 stang project. There are tons of used parts and even more aftermarket parts out there for the stangs, just like the trucks. I couldn't believe the prices some of the guys were asking for their stuff. We all like to recoup some cash after a project purchase but frankly when I have a bunch of parts laying around I would rather have the room than to trip over a fender or engine block. I usually post things on CL and whatever sells the first week goes, after that I start giving it away to those that really need something. So much of the stuff that remains usable in the older trucks is stuff that everyone seems to have. I hate to see stuff scrapped when it could end up making someone build. Whatever the OP does is his business but I hope it ends up helping someone rather than in the scrap pile.
