Fuel , Fuel, and more Fuel

Part 1 of 2
JFYI, I just bought the 83 E-350 cutaway with 43000 miles on it. One of the tanks,(the front one), is missing. I searched the net and couldn't find a sending unit for the front tank. So I ordered both tanks,(just because they were cheap and its 30 years old), and since I couldn't find a sender for the front tank, I ordered the rear tank sender. If anyone gets in this situation, the only difference between the front and rear sender is the direction of the pickup tube and float assembly. So all I'll have to do is extend the pickup tube with steel line, and it should work fine. I'll let you all know when I get it.

Part 2 of 2
this is my second e-350 cutaway with a 460, the first one was a 95 fuelly that got 8mpg, this one is an 83 carb and so far is getting 8 mpg, I was wondering if anyone had a big van with a 300 -6 and what they got for mileage.

Holy crap, 8 MPG? That's insane.

I used to drive semi trucks, and those routinely got between 6-7 MPG.

Well sure, but thats diesel...

If class 8 trucks were powered with gasoline I'm thinking 3 or 4 mpg would be about what they would be getting.

Not sure about his van, but mine is an 7.3 IDI N/A. c6, 3.54 gears and a DN Overdrive My mileage all depends on cruising speed:

60mpg=17-18mpg
65mph=16-17mpg
70mph=15.5-16mpg
