Craigslist buy 1968 F100

Got this truck for $700 on Craigslist needs cap, rotor, points, cond, and carb. They gave me a new carb to go on it. Has some rust, nothing major floors are solid. Gonna get it running, then do the CV front and make it a short bed eventually. Good deal or just ok? Love to hear feed back. Thanks!

360 I'm pretty sure. I didn't get the standard "it's got a 390 in it now" LOL

Looks good. What are your intentions with it? Street rod?

I'm gonna get it running/driving for now. My plan is to do the CV suspension and make it a short bed. I have a 1969 F250 Ranger that my dad bought new and my plan is to paint this one to match but lowered street rod. Its gonna be a mini me to the 1969 F250. I would really like to do the CV 4.6L transmission and all, but that depends on how hard the wiring is going to be.

From what I understand the 4.6/4r70w or 5.0/aod swap isn't all to hard if you have time. It definitely makes the truck more drivable.

That would be cool to have matching paint jobs.

The wiring on mine was pretty simple actually. Engine came from a 93 Cougar and there were only a few wires to connect and most of them were all in one connector. I also bought a factory Ford manual on ebay for $12, it made it extremely easy to identify the wires I needed to connect.

Thanks guys! I have a 66 Fairlane that I think I might sell and maybe buy a complete running 03 up CV to be a donor for the project.

Started collecting parts for the build. Went to pick n pull got a 3.73 limited slip, Rotors/calipers, brake cables and all from a 97 exploder and a 3G alternator for $250 out the door. Found an 03 Crown Vic half torn apart and was going to get the front end till I noticed the tie rod end was busted on one side. I did want to waste my time getting a broken soon to be broke rack.
One of the Crown Vics in the yard had the front cross member out with the engine still hanging in it! Anyone here have experience taking those thing apart? Leaving the motor in seems like it would make it harder to get apart.

Good buy for $700 I would of paid that and got a new carb with it. I like how your doing a mini version of your 69 Ranger. Has most of the trim still in decent condition which usually go missing over time. My only thing is I'm a anti CV swap I rather go a different route when lowering these trucks.

Damn, I missed that one and I was even there that week.
Yank a Part on Stotlemeyer in Poulsbo has a couple CVs, they also have several bumps and dents. There is or at least was an Excursion that was rolled with a 5.4 in it, and several other 97-2003 trucks.

I went to Pick n pull in Tacoma not Yank a part. Yank a Part is my next stop. Did they have any 2003 up Cv's in stock? I forgot to call them today guess I need to call them.
