Sticky valves??

Hey guys, I got my injectors from rosewood diesel the other week and put them in. Before I put these in I had almost no blowby. It had a miss before I took the injectors out because that's what the shop computer told me to do. So te injectors work great of course. No problems there but the pickup does have 244 thousand on it now. And it now have excessive blowby and a miss but only SOMEtimes. The other day it had a miss the whole time it ran. This morning it ran on all 8 and quite smoothly actually. So Im sure someday I'll do a rebuild but for now, what could be the problems? Bad valves? Bad hydraulic lifters? It does seem to have one hard knock in one of the cylinders. But when it runs on all 8 it's barely even there? I am going to put on new ipc sensor and Cam position sensor and see what that does. She's old and probably about wore out. But I have to start off small

Re torque your injectors. It's an easy fix if it's your problem

Maybe check your electrical plug in on the injectors. Maybe one is loose because the wire lock down popped up. How are your UVCH's?

I'll do that thanks. And they are brand new actually. First thing I did. Then injectors and glow plugs. Put bes ICP sensor and CPS on and no changes. It will run on all 8 going down the highway but idling it will either miss or sometimes run fine! I'm just stumped on where to go next

I've had two trucks do the same thing. Never have figured it out. Sometimes I think it's just a thing with these engines. Intermittent problems are usually electrical.

Do you have a chip in it? If so, remove it and see if anything changes.

Have you checked the torque on the injectors to make sure they are fully seated? If ANY take more than a very small turn then I would be a little concerned about that injector causing issues.

New UVCH & gaskets? From Ford or Parts store? Hopefully you say Ford, or IH.

I have a TS yes and I will remove it and see what happens. And the gaskets were off ebay. I'd have to look and see where I got them. And a new problem has come up, I start it cold like today, about 20 degrees, runs great on all 8. But when it warms up, it misses. Then I shut it off and start it back up, it still misses but as soon as I start it, it idles very odd like sort of revs up and down and just doesn't sound good to the ear. But also when it did start and idle fine, the Loud knock I was hearing was gone. Could the IDM be causin this?

At what point should injectors be checked after instal.

If it were me I would be checking IPR orings. Cold oil is thicker..warm oil when thin and IPR is unable to control high pressure oil. That would be my next move if it were me.

The same concept of hot oil vs. cold oil can be applied to the injector orings.

Yep.

I'm just thinking one injector oring set may not be leaking enough for so much result.
The IPR is common and it doesn't sound like he has had it out.pulling it to check is a free test and very definitive.
It may be an inj seal I just am saying some other possibilities

I am also running 30 percent nozzles and 160cc injectors with my 15 degree HPOP which has 245 thousand miles on it.

That's not exactly ideal but at idle it shouldn't miss though.
If you can monitor parameters look when on a hard pull at ICP and duty cycle and see if the pump is keeping up. I doubt it is honestly and when you are swapping out a t500 replace those IPR o-rings
