Propane tank on E250

When we're talking about camper or converted vans so much of what's added on by aftermarket upfitters isn't something typically addressed in this forum. Mentioning the conversion or RV model/brand doesn't help because most of us here don't own too much beyond what could be considered a standard E-Series van, that is one pretty much as it came from the factory.
As mentioned in another thread about this same issue gas or diesel van's were never shipped from the factory with propane tanks added as an option.
CNG-powered vans notwithstanding propane anything from Ford doesn't exist.

Cool van I've been thinking about removing the rear Starcool A/C in our '97 E250 and replacing it with a combination water heater/furnace....and adding a stove. Fun stuff. Older Class B's are like owning a boat with four wheels.
Might want to check out http://sportsmobileforum.com. It's obviously geared toward Sportmobile builds but there's a great Home Build section, and the forum is very much Ford leaning and there's quite a few old school Ford guys hanging around.

As I recall, the pilot light for the furnace was not easily accessible but today's long barbecue lighters would work well. I think I had a manual for my furnace, though. Maybe an Internet search or find a camper forum; these units were probably used in trailers as well. There has to be a moveable panel covering the pilot light area and you have to lay on the thermocouple button till it warms up.
My pilot light would go out often while driving and it was really annoying, but in cold Michigan winters, we did trips to outlet malls with my son as an infant and someone could stay with him in the van and play while everyone else shopped. And KILLER to preheat the van and melt ice off of it in the winter.
Good luck with the camper. As JWA says, we don't discuss campers a lot here but my first 2 big vans were Turtle Top conversions (a flatnose Ford before the GMC).
