You don't have an oil filter to clean your oil?

Let's make a bet, I have to change my oil soon and I would wager than after 70k miles with a fumoto valve there is nothing interesting to drain out if I pull the valve.

Chris, I may be asking some dumb questions, but like I said, I haven't used one before. How far up into the pan does the valve go? If it is just a couple of tenths of an inch, no big deal, but an inch or so and I would think it would leave quite a bit of used oil in the pan.

the plug gets most if not all out of the pan, u can even dump cheap quart of oil in when the plugs out to give it that little extra flush. but with the valve you cannot. as its inlet is higher then the low drainpoint of pan.
Now I'm wondering why they don't put a big 'ol magnet on the stock plug.

I've never checked my sd plug but most plugs are magnetic.

Fumoto F-106N Engine Oil Drain Valve

I'll under priced it a little, it's 26 on amazon.

My 07 oil plug is not magnetic. Something different for my tranny pan with the big o ring magnet installed.

Funny though, in the middle of rebuilding a Yam 450f four stroke engine after one of the four, first gear dogs, broke off of the gear and found its way into jamming the cam chain.

I will put a magnetic plug back in as I think it would have saved a lot of work and a thousand bucks.

the fumoto valves is best when put in a pan with a side drain, not a straight up drain.

It doesn't matter which way you put it in....

Looks like I'm ok for now..

Just got back from my latest big rig adventure and didn't see any fresh oil underneath when I looked.

Hopefully it will stay that way until the next oil change..

Skip,

It's a ball valve with a Teflon type insert for a seal. Why would orientation matter.
Really want to hear the logic on how it would differ?

It makes no difference which way they go.
