Arrow Saved another one - 1960 F-500

Saved from the crusher. Been sitting in an old corral just 5 miles from the house here in Bremond since 1992. Got a clean, clear title with it also...and someone even swapped a nice set of one-piece tubeless 22.5s on it.

Just cab corners really, and it's not bad at all. It has the nicest '57-'60 hood on it that I have ever seen. NO damage and no rust. Opens and closes like a new one. Has a little wrinkle on the leading edge of the driver's side door and it also needs a glass in that door. Been sitting 23 years, but the engine still turns via hand, so it'll prolly run. Has green antifreeze in it still, so that's a good sign. Looks like it was parked due to a fuel problem - the tank is missing and someone had a jerry can rigged up behind the seat. lol

The best part about it though is someone put a set of 22.5" tubeless wheels on it. What a score that is.

Has a 223/4-speed with a 6.80 gear out back.

Damn that thing is cool. Glad to see it being saved!

I spotted this on ebay last night... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-Ford-f600-1-1-2-ton-truck-rat-rod-dual-wheel-/310921685405?pt=Salvage_Parts_Cars&hash=item486460699d&vxp=mtr
Pretty cool but I need to fix up my current fridge before I look for a bigger one. Anyone done a "Maytag Repair" Theme on the doors yet?

That F-600 looks neat, looks like a 292 and it has a 2-speed axle as well. Looks like a set of Firestone RH5 wheels on it though....buyer beware. Those were banned by the DOT and no tire shop will touch them.

If they are 22.5s as stated. They aren't the firestone widowmakers. They are the coveted one piece tubeless replacements.

I was talking about the wheels on the truck the other guy linked in that ebay listing - it has the Firestone RH5s on it, looks like. The ad does say it has 20" wheels on it and they do look like RH5's to me. I've taken truckloads of those wheels to the crusher. lol

My truck has 22.5 x 6 tubeless bud wheels on it. The previous owner seems to think they're original to the truck. He'd owned it since the early 70s and says they have been on there ever since. All 6 match.

Anyone have any experience substituting a 235/75 R22.5 tire on these wheels in place of the original 8.00 x 22.5s? The 235s are just a hair taller and a hair wider than the 8.00s. Just wondering how well they fit on these 6" wheels. The 235 calls for a 6.75" wide wheel.

Welp, this runs. Got it running this morning. It was still popping and cackling in this video - probably from rusty, un-seated valves. I let it run for about 45 mins and it eventually cleared up and smoothed out.

I'm not finding a good reference for the 235/75R22.5" tire's specs. But as a general rule they normally say a tire is good for one rim width narrower and one wider than the design width. The rims are sized in 3/4" intervals, 5.25", 6.00", 6.75", 7.50", etc. So I'd think you'd be okay. Stu

Thanks for your input Stu. I figure I will probably hunt some 235's when I get ready for tires. That'll be a ways off. All the hydraulics on this thing are fossilized, I have some work to do before I need to worry about tires I reckon. lol

Nice, we do not see many of these in right hand drive. For more advice on the wheels, take a few close ups of one of the fronts and one of the rear outers.
