The Ford (like any other brand) has adaptive learning that include shift points. Your test drive of a new vehicle, or one with a recent pcm reset, would shift like that.

True, however with 2700 miles on the odo, and an average mpg of 10.7, someone has been putting her through her paces...

It was babied and now it is a turd. Heard that too many times.
Reset it and then drive it like you would drive it. BUT, you'll need to get some seat time.
I drove mine hard because I needed to find out if it was going to be the long term truck we need.
It is exactly what I want.

I drive my truck with eggs under my feet, both brake and throttle. It`s a sick game I play with that stupid average fuel mileage thingy. I spend more time watching that than the road...lol.
am I missing out on my trucks potential? How much time does it take to learn a new curve? If I`m going to tow heavy next weekend, do I need to beat my truck for a week for it to tow like it suppose to?

Next time you drive it push and hold the traction control button for a few seconds it turns the system off. Just one push makes it more passive if hold it down it makes a big difference apparently though I don't think you can get it to turn completely off with out some kind of tune there was a thread about it a while back probably the one you read.

They couldn't come close. As soon as they told me what they'd give for my truck I just stood up and said goodbye. We were so far off it wasn't worth haggling. Besides, it wasn't the exact truck I wanted, so they would have had to come down even more for me to bite.

Maybe I can find that elusive 2010 V10 6-spd...

That's probably for the best. It sounds like your impression of the 6.2 would be permanently skewed, so you wouldn't be happy.

Yes, the 6speed can seem slushy, (mine seems to be between 2-3 gear), and my experience is that it takes about 100 miles for it to figure things out when I tow my trailer, after that, it runs fine and I'm very happy with it.

If you're dyin for a "new" Ford you might look for a V10 like you said. You likely won't find a 2010 6 speed, but 5 speeds with the 4:10 gears are common and should pull very nicely. Good luck.

I thought they were 6-spd? You forgetting to count "L" as a gear?

No, someone with more knowledge should chime in, but as far as I know the 2010 SuperDuty had the 5r110W. If you found a late 2010 with the 6 speed it would be a rare one indeed. Many feel the Manual mode with the 6.2 equals things out some, but you can't deny the aprox. 40 more lbs of torque the V10 delivers at lower RPM's. My only regret is not ordering to get the 4:30's, but I got a great deal on a dealer stock truck.

Must not have been doing it very long.

You learn how to do things like that after a while. LOL
