Y-Block rear seal retainer removal ?

Due to not having enough light under the 292 engine i can't see what kind of bolts are holding the seal retainer in place. They look like a head for a 3/8 or 7/16 socket . But a regular socket will not grab them. Is there a special tool i need to remove the retainer ?____JIM

If they are made to take a socket, it has to be a 12 point, and I think its a 5/16, some took an allen wrench.

It should be a 3/8" 12 point socket.
