License Plate light

License Plate light
I have a 1967 F-250 Camper Special that I bought recently. I need to fix the license plate light but can't seem to even be able to find a picture of what belongs here. It does not appear to be a 67 bumper possibly a 69. It is the step bumper with a radius cutout to place the hitch. The plate mounts on the left and the light itself mounts flat on the bumper. Any help, part number etc... would be great.

Lobo34 Welcome to and the Bumpside Forum.
This is a no book answer question. The wire will connect to the tail light circuit. That wire is one of three that comes down the drivers side frame rail with a plug in connection at the end. With the light switch pulled to the park lights or to head lights that wire will be hot. The other two are for turn signals that share with brake lights.
It's hard to believe that your truck hasn't had license plate lights since new, so take a look for that wiring passing on the inside of the bumper under the truck. I bet there is some kind of connection or wire that has been used back there. Just connect to it, if the bulb is good it should work. Pretty simple.
You may need a circuit tester to find the wire.

1961/79 F100/350: All rear bumpers were optional, so it depended on which types the original purchasers opted to have installed.
Left: Here is a pic of the Styleside factory step bumper, notice it has two license plate lamps (13550).
Many Stylesides that came without a bumper, the dealers installed aftermarket step bumpers, and this is what I assume you have.
These bumpers usually did not come w/a license plate lamp. In most cases, used the type that came on Stylesides without a rear bumper.
This license plate lamp is located on the left (drivers) side below the tailgate, mounted to the bed pans rear sill member.
Right: Pic of 13550 license plate lamp (at left center) and 13406 mounting bracket installed without a rear bumper, used with aftermarket step bumpers.

Genuine Ford step bumper: See the pic in post 3.
If the license lamp is mounted above the bumper, it's the same as Stylesides without a rear bumper (see pic in post 3).
If the license lamp is mounted on the bumper, to the left of the license plate, it was supplied by the bumper company.
Here on the West Coast, the largest supplier of aftermarket step bumpers was the Fey Bumper Co.
The thing is, FoMoCo didn't offer Styleside step bumpers until the late 1960's, so the aftermarket bumper companies took advantage.
They gave dealers a rack that could hold 10 different types of step bumpers, some dealers placed these racks in the showrooms.
Ford never offered a step bumper for Flaresides, but the aftermarket bumper makers offered at least 5 different types.

you need this one
Mustang LIGHT ASSY LICENSE TAG GOOD REPRO | 13560-1A | NPD
You'll have to drill out the rivets to take the bracket off for the mustang.

Thanks again everyone for your help
