Looking for Insurance companies

Well it took 19 years, but I'm ready now to insure my 54 f100. (Don't like to rush into things). I'm in NJ so I'm expecting DMV aggravation.

Wondering if there was a preferred insurance company ya'll use. I did a search of the forum here and didn't find anything. I'm thinking I'll apply for QQ plates. Seems to be the route with the least hassle.

So far I've found Plymouth Rock, American Collectors, Progressive, Grundy, Condon Skellers and Farmers Insurance that offer Classic car insurance. Hemmings is probably in that mix also.

So, whats the consensus? What should I have and what to avoid. Oh, and what should I expect to pay. As always, Any and all help appreciated

Insurance

No question, Hagerty is the best. Agreed upon value, instantaneous customer service, and no hassles in case of a loss. They even find damaged parts for you, and you can have (God forbid) your vehicle repaired wherever you choose.

Premiums are very reasonable, based on the agreed-upon value. Telephone number is 1-800-922-4050.

Get a quote, they are fantastic.

I've had Grundy for years. As long as your truck is a second vehicle you can drive it as much or anywhere you please with no restrictions. Cost is reasonable and based on agreed valve.

I went with Farmer's....my regular agent set up the policy. They quoted around $20 more per 6 months that Hagerty. The plus is that the policy allows casual driving and doesn't have to be to or from a club meeting or car show. I can drive to the store or around town without having to worry about not being covered (or having to lie to concoct a story about a car club meeting). That policy is around $150 per 6 months and covers theft, comprehensive and collision (and of course liability).

They want operations limited to 1500 miles per year, but indicated that is an average. So if you want to do a once in a lifetime jaunt to Truckstock for 4000 miles round trip, you'd be covered.

I've been with CHUBB for several years. They insure classics, art work, boats etc along with events such as a concours. Price was good and restrictions lax.

I have Hagerty and have been really happy with the customer service and price so far. Luckily I haven't had to see how they handle claims...

When I talked to the agent, I asked if there were any restrictions on when I can drive it, how to use. It, etc. and the agent said there wasn't, as long as it was reasonable...hopefully that was true.

My only problem with classic vehicle insurance is that I pull a teardrop camper with my 53 and Hagerty and Grundy both said "no way" Plus my truck doubles as a parts chaser for my business, so mileage is beyond what they consider "reasonable"

We now have two classics with Hagerty and we are pleased. However, we have not put in a claim as of yet - and actually hope we never do. HI was much cheaper than our regular driver insurance company which we had it with originally (Erie - which has been good to us over the years).

I have State Farm insurance stated value on my 67 Cougar XR7 of $25,000.00 cost me a little over $250.00 a year my 71 Mustang Mach 1 cost under $300.00 a year I had a 64 Galaxie XL500 with them and it was around the same yearly amount. My 1949 Ford F1 is not insured yet but they will get it also. What I like is there is no hassle with where it is stored, or if I take it to the store or anything like that. I have been insured with them for over 15 years and never had any trouble with them. By the way my 3 regular cars are not with them because of the cost
