I won a small victory today in my maintenance war. I got the drive shaft support bearing changed and greased the slip yoke on my '01 F250. Feeling slightly empowered lol. My first maintenance issue fixed. And my clunk and vibration are gone
Congrats. I grease my slip yoke 1-2 times a year depending on how much I drive and how long I can live with the clunk-clunk-clunk. At 260K I'm sure the carrier bearing needs to be retired and it's on my "to-do" laundry list.
How long did it take you to replace the carrier bearing?
About 3 hours. And that was with having to go back to autozone and swap bearings. There are 2 sizes apparently. It also helps to have another set of hands to help handle the drive shaft. It will attempt to fall on your head.
