Sterling 10.5 gasket?

Autozone sold me a gasket for my '01 F250 rear end. It appears to be a Sterling 10.5. But I was reading a step by step from Guzzle on gear lube change and it said that the Sterlings don't have a gasket. To use RTV.

From the factory only rtv was used. Some people do install a gasket during a oil change, but most just put on new rtv.

There is no gasket.

Permatex Right Stuff sets up hard and tough enough to prevent leaks.(unlike some other sealants/silicones) It is what I use.

Personal preference. I hate RTV, don't know why, just do.....
I bought Lube Locker reusable gaskets for my 10.5 and Dana 50, quality parts and don't leak or seep a drop.

I too prefer gaskets on my differential covers (and anything else) over RTV but I have had excellent results using Permatex Gray RTV. It's Good Stuff.

Same stuff that I use... Not cheap, but never a leak since I started using it!
