Need a bulb for dome light

I've got an 88 F150 XLT Lariat, 2WD single cab. I went to replace my dome light and noticed it doesn't take a regular bulb. I think it might be missing the fixture the bulb goes into because all I see are two metal prongs when I take the plastic lens off. I've uploaded an image for everyone to see what I'm up against. What do I need to get this light working?

Yeah, you need a new housing.

It takes a Festoon style bulb #561

Our 90 F150 has a dome light just like that and it doesn't look like you are missing anything. Their is a bulb that has a wire like deal on both ends that pop onto it. Here is a picture of the bulb. Only some of the dome lights are like this because our 89 F250 and 91 F250 have a different set up where as our 89 F350 and 90 F150 have that set up.

I have no idea what the size is but at least you have a picture of what it looks like.

Here's a suggestion https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...d-festoon/244/. I've bought bulbs from these folks and have been impressed by the quality and brightness. Looks like it should just pop in.

Has anybody used a ranger dome light? The only reason I ask is the dome and the map lights come on when you open the door. My 95 I put leds in and when you open the door it looks like Angels stadium nice and bright.

I personally haven't put the entire dome light in however the dome light bulb above I pulled from a ranger. I actually do not care for the 3rd gen ranger dome lights that is why on our 3rd gen ranger I am putting a 1st gen explorer dome light in it.

1996 body with 1992 drivetrain and interior minus door panels and dome light which are from the 96 right now but I am going to put a 92 explorer dome light in as I like my 94 Explorers dome light.

I figured they would be the same. Do the map lights come on with the dome light? I had the dome lights out of my crew cab and there are tabs i can solder wires on and make the maps come on with the domes I just havent done it yet

For my explorer no they don't. For the stock ranger one I am not sure because the truck hasn't gotten finished being wired up for the custom modifications.

Man, that looks like it would fit exactly. What an odd way to attach a bulb.
