Extruded U-nuts - Where to buy?

I can't find anyone that sells the extruded u-nuts used for the front fuel tank straps and skid plate. I have found a 3/16" one that will work to replace the M10 for the straps, but I can't find anything that will work for the ones on the skid plate. They are M8 and have 1-3/8" from the center of the hole to the inside of the 'u'.

Does anyone know where I can find them?

Fastenal or go directly to AuVeco's website. That's who makes them. Just be ready to buy a box of 25 or 50. They aren't too bad on price though.

I broke one of these on each of our '95s front tanks. Outer edge of the skid plate, in particular. Since it happened on the spot and I wanted to get it back together without waiting for a part to be shipped, I managed to slide a regular nut up into of the frame, and had just enough finger to hold it while I started the bolt from below. PITA, but it worked.

Not sure if this number is good for your application. But might be worth a look. Ford N800538-S301.

I thought it looked like I could do that. I actually broke the ones toward the rear of the truck.

I honestly can't tell for sure. I don't think so, but I'm going to have to stop by the Ford dealer so I'll have them run that number.

Fastenal, I was a manager for them for 6 years. They should be able to get them. Much cheaper then the stealer too.

6 years?! How did you put up with it for that long? LOL I worked for them for 4 years and got offered the GM position many times. No thank you is what I said over and over...so they fired me. HAHA My DM said he needs someone who is "A" candidate and wants to go the distance. Um....ok

But yeah. Fastenal should be able to get those for you

Yeah it was a first job right out of college. I didn't bleed blue like the rest of them and finally got out. I had accounts in my territory that were run through a different store and they would not give them to me. After I left they turned them over to the new GM. Oh well it was good job experience for a first "real" job. They won't be such a profitable company for long with everyone ordering online and free shipping because they won't offer that.

I realize this is an old post, but I found some additional information that may help others down the road that also find it like I did.

I found a part in Auveco's catalog that seems like a match to the M8-1.25 extruded u-nut used to mount the skid plate. This one has a ctr-of-hole-to-edge measurement of 28.5mm which appears identical to the OEM one I've measured. The Auveco P/N is 19644.

Here's a link to an online retailer I found that sells them in a pkg of 15 for $18.24. GM Extruded U Nut M8-1.25 Scrw 1.7mm-5.5mm Rnge

I found the Auveco catalog (PDF) here: https://www.auveco.com/download/cata...co_catalog.pdf
