2006 Super duty F 250 lariat Radio add bluetooth?

Has anyone tried to add a hands free cell phone system into your truck? Currently I have the 6 disk radio with 4 speakers. Is there a later model radio I can switch out that has the capability? I dont want to loose my factory steering wheel controls. Ideas?

I went with a Motorola Roadster II clipped to the visor for my 2005, and I'm very happy with it. Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth® In-Car Speakerphone

On longer trips I've streamed internet music from my phone to it and set it to play through FM to my truck speakers.

Yes, it has its own speaker which is usually sufficient, but you can broadcast on an FM station to your radio. I set one of the presets to the default channel (I think 107.7, but you can change it if there is interference).

Are you looking at add-on or full replacement? This summer I replaced the same factory unit with an aftermarket bought on ebay (touch screen, bluetooth, gps, etc). It plays thru factory speakers and works great, but unit has to be ON to take calls. There does not seem to be a STANDBY type mode like most factory radios. Not really a big deal as I usually leave it on anyway. If you do some hunting (Crutchfield, etc) you can probably find a suitable replacement.

The ideal situation would be to add a later model factory unit with bluetooth. I dont know what year it became availble in our trucks though. I saw aftermarket units that work but wouldn't I loose my steering wheel controls?

The one I have works with the steering wheel controls without any modifications. Some other aftermarkets needed controllers or wiring changes. You would need to have the manufacturer confirm direct compatibility. I did look into used factory upgrade stereo with the options I wanted, but they were very expensive for used equipment.

What brand did you get? It looks like there are several that would do what I want them to. Did yours have an external mic for the phone? Some of them seem almost to cheap to be decent!

Here is a link to it on ebay:

Not for the first time installer, but I have done several installs over the years. Any good shop should have no problem with the installation.
Forgot, yes it has built-in and external mic. I use the external mounted in the overhead console.
