I'm Home!!! F-150 time!!!

Hey guys! I had a 04 F150/4.6L for a few years and loved it. Due to some financial hard times I had to get rid of it and go a little cheaper. Well I'm getting my truck back! This time looking at a '14 FX4...BUT WHAT MOTOR!?!?!! Read everything I can find about them, they seem so close...ecoboost a little better mileage, better torque and better for towing (or so I've read) but it sounds like a freakin' car. OR...the V8 that I know and am used to and actually sounds like a truck.

Any repair or known issues on either? If price isn't an object, perfect world, what's the right answer!??!!? ahhhh, I'm dying here and don't want to make the wrong choice

If you tow often or heavy loads get the ecoboost. If not either one will serve you fine. Get whichever you prefer/get a better deal on. My experience is that they get very similar gas mileage not towing. The ecoboost gets a little better mileage towing and pulls much better.

Post some pictures when you get your new ride. The EcoBoost and 5.0 are both great engines.

Ecoboost does not get better mpgs.....I really like the 5.0 in mine. ....sounds awesome and real world everyday mpg has been 17.5....Ecoboost is probably the better choice if towing often and is faster and more powerful but I'm just stuck on v8 engine ......plus I honestly believe the v8s will long outlive the turbo v6s.....this is 100 percent biased I know ......but like someone else said either way u can't lose

I've had both. In my experience the 5.0 was 1-2 mpg better on gas. I had 3.73 gears in the 5.0 and 3.55's in the Eco. Both great motors. Power wise, they are both strong. I haven't towed with the Eco but the 5.0 was the best towing V8 I've had. Even towing 7500 lbs. I personally recommend 3.73's if going 5.0 and you live somewhere there are hills or if you are upsizing tires.
Good luck!

What about the 6.2? If you are not towing and want a great V8 it's a beast!

+1 for the 6.2. Couldn't be happier with mine.
