looking for a 6.2 core engine
Thought I might get more help in here then the for sale board. I am looking for a 6.2 core long block w/covers if possible. Block and heads need to be rebuildable. I cant see paying 2500-3500 for a junk yard motor since im going to build it and don't need any accessories. I want to show all the pushrod guys what this motor can do in a max effort ultra/ultimate street car.
Thanks Micah

You may or may not haven this build:
Carbureted 6.2 SOHC "Boss" Fox Mustang Swap - Yellow Bullet Forums
Pretty interesting, but I wish he would dyno without the the power adder to show the real potential of the 6.2...........ron

I was reading that thread on yb and I also want to build a 6.2 for my 87 Thunderbird.
Doesn't seem to be very many people building the 6.2 for swaps.
I see he used a super high rise carb intake.
I would love to have a low profile 6.2 efi intake. (to fit under the stock hood of my Turbo coupe)
I already have an aftermarket efi system I think will work for it.
Maybe soon we will see the take out prices of these truck engines come down now that the oldest ones are 5 years old.

Did you post some cut-away pictures over on 429-460? From SVT performance?
That's the best internal pictures I've seen.
I think there is fear of the unknown.
By looking at the cam/rockerarm architect it looks like if you veer to much from stock you will get into geometry trouble. It appears there is no adjustment of rocker height to compensate for reduced base circle cams cut from stock cores. You could mill the shaft stands down then shim them to the right height.
Modify the stock rockers in the lifter area to accept an adjustment screw for a solid cam. Balance valve stem height and cam base circle.
What to do with the plugs? I like the one between the valves, but what to do with the second plug?
I am really old school and I would run a distributor and carb, maybe 2 carbs.
Thought it had a forged crank but looks cast. Rods, pistons ,valves, springs and such would be swapped out for HD pieces but like to use stock, yet modified , core pieces.
That's just some stuff I see. Will need to get my hands on one to what else it will take out of the norm.
It would need to make 750 HP to replace what I have now and hopefully be 150 lbs ligther. And make that HP at 8000 or better to take advantage of my liberty 5 speed.
Just my observations so far............ron
