v10s, are they really hard to find??

I appreciate the honest feedback. I kind of knew it was a little high, but, like everyone, you always think your vehicle is worth more.. I agree about the diesel, if anything they hold their resale very good. I had a very low mileage last year 6.0, and was sold within days. I went by KBB, I also checked NADA. I just split the difference. Its funny when you are BUYING a car at a dealer they always break out the KBB, when you are trading one in they always break out the NADA. I will have to make a decision, drop it a few thousand or keep it.

I've seen that trick at a dealer and called them out on it. They replied with the fine we'll go KKB to KBB which means the higher truck price for them... They do tend to price a grand or more under KBB from my experience on their vehicle which means a direct comparison nets them more on the sale. They wouldn't do NADA to NADA though. I just figure out a number and say I want this entire deal for that much when I sign that line, no more no less. Worked the last couple of times.
But I HATE buying vehicles. I hate the hassle of figuring prices, haggling, arguing, condescending looks from the sales manager, the sales add ons that the finance manager does, basically the whole process. Especially used sales. You worry about getting a good "deal" in the vehicle you're buying and also the trade if you are doing so. But I look at it like the people who haggle $500 on a $300,000 house where they are mortgaging 80% of the deal. You're saving yourself $1.50/month. It's more the feeling that you "won" vs any logical conclusion.
If you really don't want the truck, but don't need to sell, just leave it for sale. If I knew my absolute lowest I'd go I would just reduce the truck month to month on the ads. If someone is watching they might start to bite harder knowing the price is going down. If you really need to get rid of it just look at what you owe, if you do, and figure if you are just being stubborn because you want a certain amount and lower your price. That is the toughest part. If you are planning a purchasing another vehicle and saying "I need $XX,XXX to make the deal on the new vehicle" you are going to handcuff yourself selling the truck.
Again I hate the entire process besides when I was selling my beater cars that were falling apart. I listed everything that was wrong with those cars and people still handed over cash......
Sorry that was long.

The V10 is very hard to find in anything other than a beat up fleet truck. That's what my last one was but it was still great. After I sold it I Started looking for a 3V and they are like trying to find a unicorn. Only one I found that I liked was a King ranch DRW 2009 with 60000 miles. Awesome truck but they wanted almost 10K over book price.
I ended up getting a 6.0 instead, even though the V10s have always been almost indestructible and pulled like mules.
The 6.0 doesn't scare me because I work on them for a living but if a truck I like come up with a V10 I would probably be more than willing to trade.
Its a shame, everytime a nice one goes up for sale they go for more than the Powerstrokes around here.

In my immediate area finding ANY used F250/F350 is problematic. Today I found one new F250 @$49K, and no F350s on the local Ford dealer lot; but about 30 F150's (mostly new).
Went to the Chevy/GMC dealer, NO 2500/3500 models, new or used. Our Dodge dealer left town long ago.
Several years ago these same three lots were filled with used "heavy" models.

Used ones are definitely hard to find on a dealers lot and when they do arrive they are gone within a couple weeks or less. The dealer I bought my truck from, and will never go back there, always has a great amount of used SuperDuty trucks, always. But nothing really old though. Mainly the 08+ trucks.
I constantly get those letters asking to just buy my truck from our larger dealer here. No trade, no sale, just buy my truck. They were supposed to and then backed out on the deal. I'd say that same dealer has a good 15-20 new 250/350's on the lot at most times. Problem is that the majority are reg cab work trucks or CC Lariat/Platinums. Every so often an XLT shows up and the majority of the high end trucks are diesel. But yes, F150's a plenty.

I'm looking only because my current 02 is a plain jane and I'd like power windows and door locks; other than that I'm happy with it.
As mine is 12 years old, 182K miles, cosmetically blemished (not beat up) I'd like to split the difference, say an 08 model with just about 90K miles. The only used one I've found (out of town) was a seventeen foot tall 4X4 2013.
I don't know if I'll ever find the combination of what I'd prefer: F250/F350, 2500/3500, a powerful gasoline engine, 2WD w/ only 2 rear wheels, extended or super cab, short bed, bench seat in cloth, rubber floor mats, power windows and locks. Whatever I eventually find will be a compromise.
