What is a girl to do?
I recently bought a 1979 Ford F150. It currently has a 6" lift on it with 35" tires. It needs an alignment and all new tires (after I put in the new battery and alternator..) and I am considering taking the lift off, putting stock tires and wheels back on, and getting it tagged antique to lower insurance costs and not have to deal with inspection. I would like to get people's opinions on this, and I also have a few questions. What is the stock tire size for a '79 f150 single cab truck with a 351M? My truck is brown (you can check out my profile if you want to see it) and I'm thinking that the stock, white wheels would like awesome on it

The stock tire size should be printed on the decal placed on the driver's door jamb.
Alternatively, you can look up the tire size in the dealer brochures found at www.Fordification.net

I have a 6" lift on my f150. The came with 33's and even those looked awkward with that much lift. Unless you are removing the lift, i would stick to a tire size close to what you have now
Factory tire sizes are probably going to be listed as bias ply, so search around for a size calculator to buy radials.
Stock white wheels would have been 16.5" "wagon wheels". If i remember right Summit Racing has procomp ones for around $65.

First let me say congrats on the truck. Secondly let me say, that is NOT a 6" lift. Fords aren't like Chevys. These trucks came off the assembly line tall. (Even the '78 and '79's)
You most likely have a 4" lift. 235/75 R15 is close to the stock tire. A stock truck will fit 33" tall tires. They look a little crowded in there, but they fit.
To put things into perspective, the brown truck has a 3" body lift on stock suspension with 33" tires, and the primered truck has 7" of lift (4" suspension and 3" body) and has 37" military take offs on it. Which does your truck more closely resemble? (both of these trucks are 1979 F150's)

P.S. You may want to remove that visor. It's a rust trap.
Here's your truck, it's nice looking.
