C6 trans question/issue

My 82 f150 4x4 302 c6 trans is acting up and I wanted/needed your guys input.
My c6 is slow to shift into any gear when I shift the column shifter, after a moment it jerks into gear, also it doesn't seem D is doing anything but all the other gears seems to function manually or auto.
Fluid level looks ok, maybe a little high on the dipstick.
I'm going to check the modulator and do a fluid/filter change but does someone have a link to the band adjustment screw ?
As always thanks guys.

Being an 82 chances are the internal seals are hard and worn.

Make sure the breather is clear. If it is plugged fluid will show high on the stick but be low, at times very low.
Which will affect operation.

The band adjustment screw is located on the left side just above and ahead of the shift lever.

Loosen the lock nut, tighten the adjuster screw to 10 foot pounds and back if off 1 1/2 turns. Hold the adjuster screw and tighten the lock nut.

This only affects second gear so there are slim to no chances of correcting your condition.

Great info thank you for the response!
Dumb question, Where would the breather on the trans be located?
(I've been messing with it laying under her but I'm not seeing one.)
I've been shopping for another 80-86 4x4 c6 to have it rebuilt so I can still use the truck, I figured there was a good chance it was time for a rebuild...

The breather is on the right side. Follow the filler tube up.
