Bronco with original diesel?

Hey!
Found one on craigslist who says his Bronco is delivered new from Ford equipped with a diesel. Could that be right?

This is what the add says: "SUPER RARE! 1983 FORD Bronco 4x4 w/Factory Diesel *
Extremely RARE! 1 of Only 47 built in 83! "

If so; what kind of dieselengine would it be in it?

Ask for a VIN and check it out, but as far as the US there is no knowledge of a factory diesel Bronco.

Here it is again

Looks damn original to me!
Probably shouldn`t put it on here if I want to get it to Norway. But just had to share it. Anyone on here living close to it to check it out for me? The mechanical stuff can always be fixed, but rust worries me. Too bad to use 3000 us dollars in freight for a shipload of rust

I'll bet that the engine was swapped awhile ago, the gauge cluster has been swapped, it has the newer style wood grain, and the gauges were black from the factory, not white. Carpet doesn't look factory, and you can see the new radio and speakers. There's also that aftermarket front bumper. It's still a cool truck, and I'd buy it, I don't think it's original though.

1983: FoMoCo introduced the 6.9L diesel that was made by Navistar, it was only available in E/F250/350's.

No Bronco sold new in the US/Canada of any year was available with a diesel. 1983 Bronco's were available with 300 (4.9L) I-6, 302 (5.0L) and 351W (5.8L) ONLY.

I've always wanted to swap in a diesel but recently I went looking up specs and just the weight of these engines is alarming. Any one you could choose is going to add an extra 400-500 pounds directly to the front. How does your bronco handle on and off road skip? And would it be correct to assume you've swapped out stronger axles and suspension?

my bronco isnt a road vehicle, its offroad only. but the diesel i put in the 75 crewcab handles just fine. not that much heavier but can pull around 20mpg.
