What a HOOT! A brand-new 7.3, fer' real!

I doubt he'll get that price, though, unless someone just had a REAL good day in Vegas or sumptin'!

I've got it on my watch list, just to see.

Never even burned through a complete tank yet! Anyone wanna' guess at the condition of that fuel? Ewwww......

Really a shame it's not a Crew Cab.

After 12 years, you would need another 5 grand to take care of all the little things that will pop up after sitting all those years if you want to drive it regularly.

What I noticed is it has Motorcraft GOLD coolant. From the factory, didn't they come with Green coolant?

That is a great looking truck, but I've never seen another truck with a painted drive shaft. In addition, I've never seen an early 2000 truck with the balance weight on the drive shaft close to the rear diff.

I do like seeing a nice clean 7.3 motor, but that just doesn't seem right. You'll drive more then 155 miles just getting the truck up to operating temps. If you figure a 20 minute drive each time @ 60 MPH that 20 miles a week seeing as "his grandson drove him around".

You'd get 155 miles in two months, or if driven once a month, you'd get it in 7 months of driving.

The story doesn't add up for me.

Next, in 2002 didn't mirror turn signals become standard for the XLT, this truck doesn't have them, it has the 2000 tow mirrors with out turns. The 2003 towing package had turn and marker in the mirrors I believe.

Again, the truck looks great, but with all the under body paint, could it be a frame off restoration? I realize that is wild accusation, but again, if something is too good to be true, it usually is!

Model year 2002 was the first to use "gold" coolant from the KY Truck Plant.

He said he started it once a month to get it up to op temps and drove it once in awhile to rotate the tires.

They didnt start putting turn signal mirrors until 2003 6.0 trucks I believe. I have a 2002 Lariet and no turn signal mirrors, I bought mine when it was born.

Wonder why he still has those tires on there. Mine came with those and they were recalled after 3 yrs of owning the truck.

They have lowered the price by 7%, that's a start. Since they had offers in that range why doesn't that used car salesman just call them up and accept those offers? I wonder if they'd throw a complete seal kit in for that price.

I don't care how little miles it has, 12 yrs old is nowhere near "collectible" in terms of value. Considering great condition low mile trucks like this are going for close to 20k, that's about all they should expect. Also take into account it's a 2WD and Ext Cab...not all that desirable IMO. I call BS on his statement of already having offers in the current range.

You are correct on the mirrors. I have an '03 7.3 with the mirrors, but they did not offer that option on the 7.3's from the factory, only the 6.0's. Mine were put on the truck but not wired up. The dealership had no earthly idea how to get them wired up, they made up some excuse of needing a whole new wiring harness that would be $800 plus labor.

So I did an internet search, and found FTE, all because of the signal mirrors.

You are absolutely right. There are several stages of life for an automobile. New, which ends the minute it's driven off the lot. Used, which immediately follows new and lasts for a few years. Old, which is what they are by the time they're like ten years old and is what they remain for one hell of a long time. Then they become classic and collectible but even then only under the right conditions and circumstances.
