I often see on here blokes helping each other out with parts for sale and each seems to be happy with the deal. I am pleased that that happens, it is a good group of people it seems. However I guess we should be aware that we do not always know the other person as well as we might think, and should protect ourselves as we normally would in dealing with other people we don't know.

I presume that you have done so, I on the other hand apparently have not been careful enough. In my dealings with another Australian forum member I have been taken advantage of, on several occasions before I realised. This entailed parts supplied not as described and parts not supplied even though I (foolishly) paid in advance due to circumstances. Despite my trying to work it out with him numerous times, I have been fobbed off, and done about a thousand dollars or so. Now I see him advertising something for sale that I paid him for and never got, despite a lot of chasing up.

<OSo now I have to try and get my parts before they are sold elsewhere. Of course many will think well you were a damned fool, and I was. This bloke would be considered a good bloke by many of you though, and so did I, I met him and his wife and they seemed good people.<O
I spoke to him a LOT on the phone before we had any dealings and I thought we were friends with common interests.

Now I have to try again to sort this out, and if not successful, I will pursue it further. I was stupid but he is a crook.<O

That's not good to hear , and what I consider a low act .
Can you PM me his details so I can avoid dealing with this person ?
Or maybe if he's local to me I can "pay him a visit " .

Hello Scott, thanks for your interest. At this time I do not want to name him, I hope to sort this out to the point at least of getting these items I paid for and he is now advertising for sale. If you are really worried, and are about to do a deal with somebody, pm me and I will tell you yay or nay, if you wish. Although you are probably a better judge of character than I am.

By the way, that sounds like a great collection of cars you have.

Sure thing, thanks.

The last thing I wanted to do was tar the few Australians FTE members with this brush. There are not many of us I think and I hope nobody feels that way, it was not my intention. It does make it hard I guess when I do not want to name the bloke.I was just amazed when I saw the ad which included the parts I paid for advertised with something else and needed a rant. I am collecting what evidence I can and will contact him again.

Thanks again for the offers of support fellas.

Wow, sorry to hear about your troubles.

I hope you can get it worked out. I'd hate to think there are snakes in our FTE family

Unfortunately it only takes one rotten apple to make a mess of things, hopefully he will come to realize he is messing with a lot of trust we put in each other. This is the best club to belong to and we should all have each others back.

Well said!

In the past, members here have weeded out a few snakes and it sounds like, there may be at least one more.
Good luck in your quest Aus56!

I don't think you'll find one true member of our group that would think of you as a fool. We are all supposed to be friends here and treat each other with respect. I've sold a fair share of stuff to the people here and not just try but want to be honest and fair, and hope the folks I've dealt with feel the same. I hate to hear these stories. Best wishes on recouping your losses.

A Damn Shame it is. Maybe should invite him
camping in the out back. Around here we just
take them deep sea fishing. Accidents happen.

I think every FTE member (except the one) feels for you. I consider FTE more of a family, than just a place for information. I hope your able to successfully work things out with this guy.
