Help diagnosing a stalling 4.9?

Background, had a battery die on me at work for some reason. Replaced battery and truck ran fine for about a day. Then it randomly started stalling out on me. Ive checked and the new battery is perfectly fine. I then went ahead and replaced plugs and the fuel filter. Still having same issue. I tried to pull EEC codes and all I get is a solid check engine light.

So now I am stumped on how to diagnose further. When I turn the key to on I hear the fuel pumps come on. I can two foot drive it now but it hesitates like its not getting enough fuel.

Is it a failed EEC? PCM? EGR valve? Fuel Pump?

Any help would be very much appreciated you guys always save my butt before.

A solid Check Engine Light is not a good sign. What are you using to pull the codes? Does the fuel pump shut off after 1-2 seconds?

Yes it cuts off after 1 or 2 seconds. I only have 1 tank on this particular truck. And its not solid. But its not flashing codes. Like I get the flicker which is the normal start, then one solid light, then it cuts off, then another solid light.

Not the usually flashing like its showing codes.

Not a good sign. I suggest to pull the PCM, open it up then inspect for signs of leaking capacitors.

Thanks for your help! I pulled it out and it does have two of the three capacitors leaking.

When I order a new PCM (usually use Advance Auto parts for stuff like this) how do I order it? Doesnt it need to be specific to my transmission and what not?

You can take it to an electronics shop to see if they can replace the capacitors for you. It is a medium skill level repair if you want to try doing it yourself.

If you go down the path to order a rebuilt one, there are no new ones, they go by the part number listed on the PCM. It starts off with something like E9ZA-12A650-AA. Some suppliers will simply use E9ZA-AA. The prefix and suffix will change but the middle 12A650 will always remain the same.

This place can repair the one you have: Ecu Repair Now, automotive circuit board testing and repair

I have soldered on PCBs before. I might pick up the necessary capacitors and try it myself. Thank you so very much for all your help! Hopefully this resolves my issue.

Worked like a charm! I was going to have my old PCM refurbed but I need my truck to get back and forth to work. So paid the larger amount for one from Oreilys.

Thank you for all your help rla2005!
