2000 F-250 7.3 No Start

Hello all,

I've searched through many threads and can't find the answer to my problem (lots of other answers though!)

I have a 2000 Ford F-250 7.3 with 6 spd manual. No chips or other aftermarket additions, pretty much stock all the way through. I've got about 355,000 miles on it. Yesterday morning it would not start (it ran fine the night before). Cranks fine, just no start.

I replaced the CPS (which had been replaced about a year earlier when it failed). I also noted that the ICP sensor is shot with oil seeping out, but I pulled the plug (as recommended to get a default pressure reading) and still no start. I have a replacement sensor and wiring harness on order.

I have no movement on the tach when the engine cranks. Batteries are relatively fresh and fully charged. I have no "WTS" light or "Engine Check" light. There is fuel in the bowl and the tank is full of fresh fuel. All fuses check out fine. There is plenty of oil in the sump.

I had the glow plugs replaced last fall, so hopefully they are all fully functional.

I do not have a code reader today, but I'll have access to one tomorrow. I'm going to install a fresh fuel filter (that never hurts) but doubt that is the issue due to the sudden nature of this failure.

Are there any other relatively obvious places I should check? I realize that without trouble codes this may be a bit of a shot in the dark, but I'll have them by tomorrow night.

All help is appreciated. I apologize in advance if this is covered elsewhere, but I could not find my particular set of symptoms covered.

See if you have a blown 30A fuse. If so, unplug the fuel heater at the back of the filter housing, replace the fuse and see if it will start.

Disconnect the fuel heater and try to start regardless of the fuse status.

No wait to start light and no check engine lights means the PCM is not powering on. Check the 30 amp fuse again, with a multimeter. If it is good try swapping the PCM relay with the AC relay in the under hood fuse box/relay box. If the PCM is not powering up a code reader is not going to connect to it.

When my 2000 blew the fuse for the fuel, it was one of the mega fuses under the hood. I overlooked it at first.

Thanks for the responses, all!

Ok, I checked the 20a fuse under the hood that powers the PCM and it was indeed blown. I did a visual check yesterday and it looked intact, don't know how I missed that. Anyway, I disconnected the bowl heater plug, installed a new fuse, and when I turned the ignition switch to "on" the fuse blew immediately. I didn't swap relays as there seems to be power supplied to the PCM, there just seems to be a short somewhere downstream of the fuse.

Is there a llink to a wiring/logic diagram for this system? What might be next on this list of usual suspects?

Ok I found a schematic at this link: Electrical short HELP need schematic or tips! - Diesel Forum - TheDieselStop.com

It is in post #3, looks like I have many options to choose from as far as a likely suspect for a short...
