1/2 million for a camper? You can't live in it - at least not comfortably. Can you imagine hitting one of those? How's your liability insurance? A ding on the bumper will leave you saying "Aw crap, there goes $20,000 in resale value". It would behoove you to keep the truck in perfect condition, because the cost of the repair is always lower than the resale hit you'd take.

For that price, where's the slide out? And to travel after you set camp you'll need to drag something behind it as well.

Cool looking though.

Those aren't for the casual camper like most of us, think more adventure camping.

Imagine a trip from say the top of the alcan hwy to the tip of South America. Or across from France up to the "road of bones" aka the road to Magadan or Africa top to bottom.

Want some cool reading check out www.advrider.com and look up some RTW ride reports.

Maybe when the wife and I are empty nesters.....I have been working on her a few years about an extended bike trip and she is starting to warm up to the idea.

$750K for the base model:

I can see how serious they are, though - Cummins 6.7L and Allison 6-spd. Their shop doesn't mess around.

The F650/F750 can be ordered directly with the Cummins and Allison. It isn't like they're doing conversions on them.

Shows what I know.

I see one "fatal" flaw to this concept - it's not armored... with machine gun turrets. Anybody who's driven through West Mexico and Central America would get my meaning.

It is a very cool ride, no doubt but I agree, it's a serious "I have lots of money" magnet. I wonder how many rocket launchers that thing's worth (or the folks driving it).

The wife and I cross the Southern Border on occasion and for the most part the folks are wonderful, but we don't take our shiny stuff. We take the old Tacoma or the fading 82 VW van.

Better be bullet proof with under body armor for IED's, along with a periscoping hidden turret with a 50 cal ready for use on demand. A good generator and encrypted sat phone would also be necessary as part of that kind of package.

I agree we cross several times a year without issues. I do drive my PSD also. At the condo resorts it's kept in a gated lot with 24 hr security and when we go further south to Puerto Lobos it's kept in the yard of my friend's fishing cabin and I sleep in it! Where do you go down there?

The best dentist ever in TJ and We like the laid back atmosphere in San Felipe.
Not a continent crossing by any means but keeping a low profile is just good practice - in any country.

I have been going all over Sonora for 30+ years...It is less what you drive, so much as where and when you drive. I drive this...

That's pretty cool, a friend of mine has a house in San Felipe, his wife has dual citizenship which makes things a bit easier.
