So after all the hard work and 16 grand in parts in the last 18 months my 7.3 was stolen out of the work parking lot.

I have now purchased an 08 f350 4x4 SB Crew 6.4ltr with a blown engine.
I pick it up from dealer its sitting at on monday. Its my buddies truck and has 98k on it.
The dealer has engine tore down and sitting in bed.

Im looking for a 6.4 Ltr Engine ASAP.

What should I do to said new engine while its out?
Do Deletes? Any kit better than the others?
I have to run a tuner if I want to delete correct?
What tuner options?

Head Studs I hear. Why?

I know nothing of 6.4s. Im a FTE/self taught 7.3 backyard mechanic whos not afraid to learn by trying.

Other mods to do ?!?!?!?

Sorry to hear about the untimely disappearance of your 7.3L.

I'm relatively new in these parts myself but when I had my engine out I decided to bite the bullet and do the deletes while everything was easily accessible. You'll likely find plenty info on deletes here and the general consensus seems to be H&S Mini Maxx. That's what I used and I'm not ecstatic about it because it's not much for gauges with the screen being so small. May not be a big deal to the majority, but I can't set it to metric so even seeing the gauges they mean very little to me.

I wouldn't bother with head studs unless you're looking for a high HP machine. Not sure about finding an engine, but I'd check with wrecking yards.

Wow to be honest not knowing what you spent on the truck you have a good opportunity to assemble a bullet proof 6.4. Is the engine so damaged that it can not be rebuilt? If you have the time its something to consider.

 

I see your from michigan, if your looking for a motor out of a wrecked truck try zemkos, in clare,mi. They may have what you need they have a bunch of these trucks I buy a lot of stuff from them.

 

update: I'm Using my Stolen 7.3 Insurance money to buy my buddies 08 6.4 with a blown engine and get her going$4200. I'VE never even opened hood of a 6.4 before so just trying to do this right. I've been trying to read up on my own but Engine is coming so I am learning in a hurry.

I have a complete New 0 mile Engine coming to replace this blown one.
Turbos and all. "Ready to drop in"
Truck is completely stock.

DPS. Why? Best Brands?
What programer you guys prefer?
Thinking Spartan. ..thoughts

Any crappy OEM rear seals or anything I should address?

Still do head studs or issue fixed with crate engine?
If so do I need every gasket or these reusable having never been ran?

Install issues/warnings/ forseables
Other system issues?
I.e. AC sytem must be recharged, system bleeding.

Start/Break In Procedures?

Coolent, Oil Type/Brand?
Experience is key and i have none...lol
