HPOP plug leak

Terminator HPOP plug keeps blowing o-rings. Anyone know if pipe dope or Teflon tape would help seal the threads

Which plug? I'd avoid tape or dope. Some locktite may do the trick for you if you get the threads clean enough.

As stated, I wouldn't use foreign materials on the mating surfaces. If it's the O-Ring which keeps blowing, is the Plug Bevel in tact and not marred. With the thread pitch, length, and O-Ring something is not copasetic.

Yes but thanks for the heads up. That's why I'm doing it today so it sits for the weekend. Before I try it I'm going to try a different oring. Upon further inspection when the plug was put on before the oring was squished out the side.

Got a little bigger oring but couldn't get the plug started. I noticed a very tiny metal coil breaking off in pieces preventing the plug from going in. It looks like it sits around the threads. How imperative is it for that coil to be in there?

Normal loctite (Blue,Red,Green) will not work in this application. Loctite seals the fitting the o-ring does not. The loctite to use is this.

Loctite 680 High Strength Retaining Compound, 10 mL Bottle, Green: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific Loctite 680 High Strength Retaining Compound, 10 mL Bottle, Green: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

You will not find 680 at auto parts stores etc. A well stocked hydraulics shop may have some. If you call Diesel o-rings they can also fix you up with everything needed to make the repair. They also carry an extended plug if it is the unservicable plug that is leaking.
