Scangauge oil pressure

Evening all,

Does anyone know if a Scangauge can read oil pressure and if so, what are the codes and parameters? I don't have problem but it's just out of interest. Gives me something else to watch on those long haul trips

If you're talking about the engine lubricating oil pressure there's not a sending unit for it. The dash gauge is basically an idiot light with a needle that reads normal at 7.5 psi.

Thanks, yes I was. I assumed because there was a dash gauge, there would be some sort of sending unit.

Another useless dash gauge then?

I used to love the old cars with the oil pressure gauges. You knew it was working as the pressure dropped as the oil got hotter

and on that note, I just completed the Ford survey. Question for Ford, with all the technology available to us today, why can't the manufacturers equip us with decent gauges that give advance warning of issues pending? Much more useful than electrically adjustable pedals that we use once when we buy a truck......

Automatic headlights that don't react fast enough to tunnels, therefore incurring €200 fines for having no lights on.

Electric boot openers, great when you come out of the supermarket but you have to put your shopping down to find the remote.

Remote start.....

500hp 1,000 ftlb torque, what about 30 mpg? My 325 hp 6.0 pulls 15,000lb trailer over the mountains with no issues

OK, power is good but there has to be a limit where money spent on economy and reliability must take precedence.

come on Ford, my Scangauge cost me €140. what about an in dash gauge with alerts and warning?

Rant over

Nice rant and good points. There are some good aftermarket gauges out there, I am partial to ISSPRO gauges myself.

and while we're on the subject, what about a built in GPS for speed, distance, time etc?

I was going to apply for President but I'll settle for 'advisor to Ford for people that use their trucks'

Ford, if you're reading, email me with your CV

Could be worse, I could drive a Dodge
