Exclamation REFUSES TO START after Running ?

I'm looking to buy this 95 PS w/285k. The truck starts and runs just fine, but if you stop and turn the engine OFF it will refuse to start back up.

It needs to sit about (15) minutes and only then will it start back up.

What do I need to be looking at to fix this issue ?

TIA

Is it warmed up when you shut it off and try to restart?

I believe so. I've not yet seen the truck. Getting this info over the phone from the Seller.

They said when out driving, stop at convenience store, they have to sit and wait about (15) mins before it will start back up. It does crank over, but refuses to start.

A scan tool could point out the problem. It is likely an oil related problem. O-rings are the first thing that comes to mind. When it gets hot, oil is thin, and leaks around the o-rings not allowing it to build oil pressure to operate the injectors.

^^Agreed. This is a classic symptom of blown o-rings. Either injector o-rings or IPR o-rings. I'm more inclined to suspect IPR. If that's what it is it should make for a good deal on the truck. It's a $20 fix that may take you a couple hours to do if you've never done it before. Not a hard job, just takes one specific socket and some patience.

X3^^^

I had this with my red truck. I never replaced the IPR or injector o-rings, though. I had let the oil go ~4000 miles at that point. Changed it out and all was fine for the rest of that truck's life.

So, maybe this potential purchase just needs an oil change! Hopefully it's a good deal!

Question

Thank you all for your replies.

How difficult/expensive of a repair is this ?

Is there a procedure for it here somewhere ?

Pull the ipr and do the orings on that first. That is probably your problem. Injector orings are a little more work and money.

Never mind. The truck was a total POS and should be sold for scrap.
