91' F-250 IDI 5 speed restoration
I'm looking to do a full restoration on a 91' F-250 7.3 5 speed 4x4. It's a regular cab, 4x4, 8ft bed, blue on blue, lariat. It's got about 358,000 miles on it. It's rotted out, rusty, and dirty. Needs a new cab, but the whole purpose of me restoring it is for originality purposes and sentimentality, so I'm going to attempt to save the cab and fenders. I'll accept defeat on the bed though, as it's done 15 years of firewood hauling and pretty banged up. My question is how much can be saved on a cab? Cab corners of course, but floorboards? Do they sell those? Also, I'm aware of cavitation, but a local IDI has 60,000 miles on it. Would that be safe to use? I've read that 150,000 is where problems start to happen with these blocks. I don't plan on using the truck for plowing or towing, but I want a dead reliable truck that'll last a long time as a DD. The interior is fine, as is the electrical. This is an unmolested truck, 100% stock and untouched, and I'd like to keep it as close to stock as possible.
Thanks

I've seen their website, but didn't think they sold floorboards and stuff. Thanks I'll check that out.

i would try to find a good cab and just swap your electrical into it. if the engine is still running good, i would not touch it except for maybe valve cover and oil pan gaskets.
i lucked out and found a 87 F-150 that sat in a garage for 21 years and had a seized engine to use for my body/cab swap on my 88.
my 88 has 494,000 miles on it, and i would not hesitate for one second to go cross country with it once get the cab on it.
all i am doing to it is valve cover and oil pan gaskets, and maybe a new set of injectors, because the ones in it now have around 150k miles on them and one is starting to act up.
