Fuse #27 keeps blowing

Has anyone had this problem?

Fuse #27 keeps blowing as soon as I shift into reverse.

Prior to shifting, everything works as it should -

I've unplugged the rear sensors, back up lights, trailer plug, and each time, fuse #27 keeps blowing.....

Does anyone have any other suggestions on where I should look?

Also - if anyone has a 2003 excursion wiring diagram that shows what all fuse#27 controls, I'd really appreciate it!

Thank you -

Just out of curiosity, has this just started or has it happened before? What size fuse are you using? Have you upped the size? If it did happen before did you up the size then?

Everything I look at is mixed between 27 being Customer Access, IDM relay, and Ignition Switch Run Feed.

Someone had a similar issue that ended up being a frayed wire to the OD switch which was getting jostled when switching out of Park.

Does it blow the fuse only going to Reverse, or does it do it if you skip straight into Drive as well?

Based on what I've found, it might be worthwhile to pop the steering column off and check for any frayed wires around the shifter, coming out of the column shifter, etc. I can't find any diagrams that actually outline anything beyond what I posted above, sorry bud

The fuse only blows when I specifically shift it into Reverse. I can start it and shift straight to Neutral, Drive, 2, 1 and everything works just fine.
I've got to think that there is something specific to Reverse that is shorting - which is why I tried disabling the rear sensors, then the back up lights, etc.
Crazy......

Auxiliary Climate Control, Heated seats, Vacuum pump motor, speed control, Overhead console, Brake shift interlock, Electronic Shift On the Fly (ESOF) solenoid, Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor (7F293), Overhead console, Parking Aid Module (PAM) (15K866)

How did you disable the rear sensors? Did you unplug the sensors or the module?

You already have an older thread open on this exact issue. You need to go back there and pick up with the last instructions I gave you.
