Tips on filling enlarged screw holes?

when I bought my truck the previous owner had used quarter inch bolts for a few of the screw holes on my door panel on the driver side. Any of you guys have any tips on what I should do to fill the holes to use the right screw? JB Weld possibly? Maybe weld small patches behind the holes?

Its nothing that hurts the truck functionally, but it definitely bugs the crap out of me.

Weld in appropriate sized nut after opening the hole up so nut sits flush.

What about screw clips? Can you use those?

I'll have to see if I can find any that look durable enough, that just might be the way to go.

Grab some scrap sheet metal of approximately the same gauge and practice first. I have very little welding experience but I was able to do just this using a low end Lincoln MIG welder.

some of the smaller holes you can work with the small end of a body hammer and you are good to go. For the larger ones, as stated above, you will have to weld them up and start over.

I'd weld them closed with .025 wire and have a fresh start.

Use a welding spoon or block of copper on the back to keep from burning thru.
