52 Ford F1 Hood reattachment

What's the best way to reattach the hood on my 52 Ford F1. Outer hinges first? Inner hinges First? My wife is about to kill me I've gotten so worked up over trying to get the hood attached.

Thanks guys,

Jon Preston

Don't know that it makes a difference. I recently re-attached mine and did inner first and then outer. That's the easy part anyway. Getting it to close properly was a real PITA! I could not tell you how many times I loosened and moved those inter hinges around until I got it right...

If doing the job myself (no help), I like to keep the hinges on the hood. I lay moving blankets across the fenders and front valance, get the hood setting down on that, and slide it back a bit at a time. Then spring the hinges slightly to get them into the holes in the cowl.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I recently painted my 52, and I'm trying to reassemble it.

I put my hood on before the front fenders. This made it easier to get to the bolts. I also attached the inner hinge with the springs first. o yea my son helped.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I got my hood bolted on finally. I attached the outer hinges on, bolted the top arm of the outer hinge to the hood, then pushed the hood up and in line with the lower arm of the outer hinge. Then I connected the inner hinges next. Now I'm off the bolt the inner fenders and outer fenders on.

Thank you!

Make sure that your body mounts are solid first otherwise you will chase your tail (more than normal) trying to make the hood fit right. See this post with pix:
