wiring mess under dash

So I bought this truck a year ago and the guy had his fog lights re wired to another switch under the dash and had a brake controller wired in (that's what I think it's called) the fog lights worked for a month then just stopped working there's a rats nest of wires under the hood for the fog lights too. The brake controller never worked.

My main question is what are the wires that are hanging down under my dash that look like someone snipped ....there's a random green wire attached to one and just hanging

I can't help you with the green wiring unfortunately. But if you think that is a rats nest, you should see under my dash

those four wires are the "pass through" wires added by the factory so you do not have to drill holes to wire things outside the cab. if you look under the hood near the master cylinder, you will find the same four dead end wires.

trailer brakes are already wired under the dash.
all you need to do is find the wires and connect the plug to them, unless it was already done. then just plug the brake controller in, and put the fuse for the trailer brakes in the fuse box.

if you still have the owners manual in the truck, it is detailed how to do the hookup in the manual.
