On-Board Air Mounting

I am thinking of mounting a ViAir Compressor and air tank on the rear side of my truck bed tool box.

Given it is an 8' bed I should have plenty of room between the compressor and fiver hitch. This way if I move the tool box my compressor goes with it.

So what do you think?

Do you have a bed cover when not towing? I would want my compressor out in the elements all the time.

In a toolbox in the bed. Exactly where I'll mount mine.

I do have a tonneau cover but aren't they exposed when mounted under the truck?

I left room because I am soon upgrading to a bigger tank. Would like between 5 and 7 gallons. I have my compressor wired to upfitter 1 and it's left on most if the time, it cuts off at 150 psi.

They are. But that is why I mounted my compressor under my back seat. I live in the salt belt and plow in the winter. Didn't want it rusting away after 2 years.

We are putting bags on the rear of our new truck too. Is the tank really needed? How long does it take the pump to pump up a couple little bags? What is the better valves/controls out there today?

I like your design. What is that a 1 or 2 gallon tank?
OBTW I am thinking of attaching tank and pump on the outside of the tool box.

I think the conept is a compressor and talk not so much for airbags although it does suppor those but to support airing tires and power tools as well.

I run bags with no tank also. Doesn't take long at all to get them full. To go from 10psi to 30psi takes about 10 seconds. So I would say from 10 to 100 around a min or so.

My set up is a 2 gallon tank. Takes about 30 sec to fill. I have that tank then run to train horns on my truck, as we'll as for the 100 air hose incase I have any issues at the farm or my pull behind. Also makes putting up fence easy.

If you are doing air for just bags, I highly recommend this:
WirelessONE (Air Lift 25870, al-25870) On Board Air Compressor System | Air Lift Company

I love it on mine !
