'87 F250 7.5 / New sending unit still no reading
New to me '87 7.5l F250:
Gauge was always pegged past full. I purchased and replaced the sending unit with the one from LMC (everyone I went to only had the 4 wire version, mine uses two)
Now the gauge sits right on E. If I manually move the float, near the bottom (empty) the gauge will move up to about 3/8 full.
The sender measures 10ohms at full and 73 at empty. If I short the sending wire to the chassis my gauge sits right at E. I also replaced the two wire connector, however swapping the wires does not resolve my issue.
What is my next step to check?
Thanks!

What year is the sending unit you got really for?
Ford reversed the way the gauge reads when they changed the body style in 1987.
Swapping the wires will not change the resistance of the circuit.
I think you need one that reads 10 ohms empty and 73 when full.
I'm telling you this because I have been following leads on new sending units for my '87 460 truck with a mechanical pump for over two years.

LMC Part Number 43-4048. Says it is for a '87 F250 7.5L...
Sounds correct that the gauge is swapped, however if it read E-F backwards I would be mildly alright with this... What I see as a bigger issue is that the sending unit is within Ford's spec of 10-73 Ohms (I could have bad information...) however the gauge only goes E-3/8 Full.
Sounds like we have the same truck, have you tried the LMC unit?
