Only 800 bucks? Best get used to it. Owning an older truck is great, but you gotta be willing to drop some money on it once and a while. Or you could buy a new one and be 10x as broke...
I wouldn't be banging my head on the wall just yet... This could be a fairly easy fix for all you know
I recently dropped $3500 on a new tranny... That's how it goes sometimes.

he probly gota remaned tranny, iv actually got to rebuild a E4OD before, definitely a project. And yeah iv owned nothing but used trucks, in the last 2 months iv replaced the ipr, batteries, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, air filter, shocks, 2 U joints, rear pads, thermostat, oil change and full brake bleed. Its all just added up faster then i thought. Damn actually thats 1000 bucks

more than likely. i want to switch my E4OD out for a ZF5. I've put alot more than 1k into my truck, and ive only had it for a year. I replaced the fuel pump here:
I also just replaced my valve cover, and I got new tires, new front bumper, new passenger side headlight, rebuilt E4OD, new steering column, fuel filter, front u-joints, muffler, and a few other things im forgetting. its not cheap though, and thats why junkyards are my best friend

yep i was there last month. And u might wana keep ur tranny, i gota zf5 right now and its alot to work. Because the clutch is huge so ur left leg gets ripped and it takes a good moment for it to shift gear to gear. Like if i raced a guy with the same truck but with a auto he'd win cus a auto tranny can keep u in the tq band better. And i can drive a manual good. BUT one cool thing i like about a manual is hearing that turbo as i shift through the gears and less maintenance

Rebuilt my old one. They pretty much bullet proofed it. New solenoid pack HD torque converter, you name it... It was $2900, and then they rebuilt the transfer case too, oil pump on it had crapped out, and had a broken shift fork...
Price was a bit high but not bad. They are one of two good tranny shops in town, so you gotta pay up if you want it done right...

what kind of vehicles did ur dad and sis have ? And yeah with here tq monsters u really sound always do u full beefed up rebuild, cus once u got the shift kit and oil cooler you good to go, just do a full flush every 30 to 40k miles. Its mainly cooked ATF that kills trannys by the tq converter maken it heat up.
