OK... 2011 6.7 Diesel F350... changed both fuel filters today. On the top filter on the inbound side... their is a hose which comes in from below and attaches to a black plastic "vent like" fitting.

The hose and fitting broke off.... what is the piece that attaches to the inbound upper fuel filter called? I need to replace this piece and reconnect the hose...

Engine bay -- what attaches to the inbound side of the fuel filter? That has a black hose which is attached to a plastic fitting (which broke off)... not even sure what the part is called.

So did you snap the piece off of the top of the cap, or are you speaking of the connector line itself?

Go to the dealer........they have all the diagrams. Then you are there to pick it up or order it.

 

 

See the picture above.... loose hose attaches to the black fitting on the inbound side of the fuel filter.

A while back, the Ford dealer worked on this area as I had a fuel smell in the cabin... note the markets on the same area. I have never touched this area until today -- I'm wondering if it was cracked and just broke off.

I'm not even sure what to call this piece... any one know?

 

I don't know what the actual piece is called, but I do know what you are speaking of. One end connects to the fuel line, the other to the fuel filter and there is a T-fitting for the line that is loose in your photo.


I would be willing to be this will be a dealer only part.

 

Are you referring to the piece between the yellow and clear clips?
I think that piece detaches from the filter and the yellow flex tube.
Take that and the picture to your dealer and see if you can purchase that part.
I don't know what it is called either.
Probably a slim chance but you'll want to make sure any openings around that area where it broke are free of plastic bits.

 

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you snapped that part, you better keep your truck parked until that part is replaced. The part you refer to, that tees into the the line and the secondary filter is all one part of the main fuel injector fuel return hose assembly. The part number from Ford for this part is BC3Z-9A564-B. Have fun replacing it too. Believe me when I say this is not because I think, it is because I KNOW.

 

OK... thanks for all the replies. The part I'm looking for is the one below, and it appears to have been redesigned (for good reason). Now, does anyone know how to disconnect it from the yellow attach point in the first photo I sent? Is it as easy as pressing down or pulling up on the yellow?

This link is for a 3rd party fuel filter/water separator. Ignore that.....at about 2 minutes into the video the guy shows how to operate the clip.




Lift up on the clip.....push down on the thumb piece.....pull off.
