p/a steering

I have a 75 highboy with the bendix power assist steering. have thoroughly checked out all of my components and have zero slop except in the valve on the bendix steering. is there anyone out there that make a rebuild kit for this? is it something that a home mechanic can do? there is 1/4 to 1/2 inch movement each way and that equates to 6 inches of movement at the steering wheel. love this truck, hate the steering. don't want to do the retrofit of the newer style box.
thanks in advance
