Shucks, Ross, back in the days of Conelrad, there was a little ditty they played on the radio to teach people that in times of emergency, tune to 640-1240 Conelrad . Actually two frequencies. One of those ditties I'll never forget.
I would guess there are some others on here that remember. Not to hijack this thread. but it is truck history and I would venture some on here have not heard of it.

I had one of those in a Pinto. It plugged between the antenna and the radio. It worked pretty good too. (in a make your FM sound like AM kinda way)

No more than you will drive it, the non leaded will do ok. Long time, high rpm operation and you'll see valve seat recession. The valves you showed have considerable wear. The next owner will probably do what you say above, " I normally just throw newer v8s in things "

Getting antsy with this work schedule, 72 hour work weeks are nice, but I only get straight time after 40 in outages... I really wanna get back out in the shop.
The new 2 sets of fenders I got look great for restoreable parts. The one set I got is near mint. I will strip the paint off of it and see if it is any worse.
One set I got has no bondo in the normal spot above the headlight. It looks to have never had the light mount. Aftermarket?
The other looks just like mine with less rust. The bondos flaking off the same way too. It looks like the repaired stock ones people lathered in bondo and it just absorbed moisture and rots em out.
should have the head back together soon. Got 6 more valves to clean the lead off of.
I still have to flush out and clean the rocker assembly and oil tubes.
The fenders I end up not using I will restore and sell. Until then they will just sit on my shop wall as decoration.

Gonna try to get out in the garage tonight and clean up the head and pull the cam covers.
I bought some cheap brass and steel brushes from HF that have a long neck.. These will be good for cleaning up the valve guides.
Also I will be reinstalling the valves and springs and checking for leak-by. I found a source for cheap parts for the 223 and hopefully can find out what I need. So far I have one bent pushrod (#6 intake, the stuck one) and the spring is also shot on this valve. its like 15$ for both shipped. I will be testing all the pushrods to see if any others are bent.
Also added a 3/8 ID copper tube from my air compressor to the tank, I used a 10 ft tube and spiraled it to help cooldown and condense the heated air before it reaches my separators. I was gtetting a lot of moisture at my soda blaster.
This air compressor is a loaner from a friend until I get my 80 Gal again.
Stay tuned.
