Glow plugs

As it is becoming that time of year again. I wanted to ask if there is a certain type of glow plug that is better than another for longevity? I see NGK / Bosch / Motocraft / Autolite / BWD What is a good pick?

Tick... tick... tick...

Any second now, there will be an explosion of "NOT XYZ BRAND!"

I would suggest Motorcraft. DO NOT use Autolites. I've not seen it but have heard of them having swelling tips which causes them to be stuck in the head.

I just picked up 8 Motorcrafts at Auto zoo for $80. Was supposed to be 88 and change but asked guy at the register about a discount and he typed in a code and knocked some off.

Compare prices to the International Truck dealer, that's who made the engine to begin with and I would dare say, Motorcraft gets the plugs from.

That's a confirm on not using Autolites - they are the 7.3L Kryptonite.

Brings back memories of when Autozone was discontinuing carrying the Beru (Motorcraft ZD-11) GP's, and lots of guys picked up sets of 8 for anywhere from $0.01 each to $5.00 each. There were guys going all over their cities snagging every Beru GP they could get their hands on, and a lot of those same guys shared their luck with lots others of us by shipping GP's to others in need. I had two guys in here each offer me a set for free, but I was able to swap something of value in fair exchange. Bought another set of 8 from another guy for $10 total.

Good ol' days, hunh?
