Thanks for the info. I was planning on going back with full synthetic thinking it would have regular dino in it. I pull some heavy loads so i wanted to put synthetic in the trans and front and rear end so ill settle for fresh synthetic in trans and axles.

Guys - about to do the rear differential fluid change and thought I would jump on here...picked up a nice 2002 F-350 7.3...was gonna change diff - xfer case - and auto tranny fluid.

Questions:

1. I think I have read both, but what does the differential take - GEAR OIL or ATF?? I bought Valvoline Synthetic Gear Oil...then I thought I saw some other things written.

2. I am going to dump the tranny pan, tap it with a drain, and replace the fluid/filter...not problem there right - as I read above - old school was never touch it.

Thanks
